🦌 Story: Dance Like a Reindeer at the Magic Colors Bakery

It was a snowy morning at the Magic Colors Bakery, and all the reindeer were buzzing with excitement. Today was the Big Winter Dance Party! 🎶

Inside the bakery, music was already playing. Reindeer were stomping, twirling, and hopping around. Flour poofed into the air like snow as they practiced their moves.

But in the corner stood Grumpster, dressed in blue, arms crossed, with a big frown on his face.
“Reindeer don’t dance,” he grumbled.
The others giggled and kept on dancing.

Just then, a loud VROOOOM! came from outside.
It was Squeeler, the one-horned reindeer, zooming in his frosting cloud car with chocolate chip cookie wheels. 🚗🍪

He zoomed too fast — CRASH!
He knocked over a whole row of cookie mailboxes.
“Oops!” Squeeler squeaked. He backed up, crumbs flying everywhere, and zoomed off again.
Everyone laughed so hard they nearly fell over. Even Grumpster’s frown twitched into a tiny smile.

The music got louder. 🎶
“Come on, Grumpster! Stomp your hooves!” called Snickerdoodle.

“Prance like a reindeer!” shouted Lemon Bar.

“Twirl around like sprinkles!” giggled Food Coloring, as his mice Pecan and Walnut spun on top of his head.

Grumpster shook his head. “Nope. Reindeer don’t dance.”

But then the beat got bouncier. The reindeer started hopping.
One by one, they called out the moves:

“Jump up high!”
“Spin around!”
“Touch the sky!”
“Hooves on the ground!”

The bakery floor rattled with happy stomps. The cookie trays jingled like sleigh bells.

Grumpster’s tail began to wiggle. His hooves tapped once… twice…
And then—BOOM!—he was stomping and prancing with the rest of them!

“Look at Grumpster!” squealed Squeeler as he zoomed by.
“If Grumpster can dance, anyone can dance like a reindeer!”

All the reindeer cheered and danced together. Even the mice joined in, tossing sprinkles like confetti.

And from that day on, whenever the music started, Grumpster was the very first to stomp his hooves and shout:

“Dance like a reindeer!”

Snowflakes falling, cookies bake,
Reindeer jump and tails all shake!
Stomp your hooves and twirl around,
Candy sprinkles on the ground.

Dance, dance, dance like a reindeer,
Prance, prance, prance with cheer!
Hop, hop, hop in the bakery,
It’s the sweetest time of year!

Squeeler zooms his cookie car,
Grumpster grumbles but not too hard.
Food Coloring shakes, shake, shake,
Sprinkle magic cookies to make!

Prance, prance, prance with cheer!
Hop, hop, hop in the bakery,
It’s the sweetest time of year!

Jump up high, spin around,
Touch the sky, hooves on the ground!

What You’ll Need:

  • The Grumpster cutout printable (Click Here)
  • Child-safe scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Brown paper lunch bag
  • Optional: googly eyes or pipe cleaners for arms

How to Make It:

  1. Print the Grumpster cutout sheet. The dashed lines show where to cut.
  2. Have your child help cut around the outside of Grumpster. (Grown-ups can help trim the smaller details or the head section.)
  3. Glue Grumpster’s body onto the front of a brown paper lunch bag — the folded flap is his face!
  4. Let it dry, then use your puppet to act out the Dance Like a Reindeer story and song!

💡 Parent Tip: If your toddler is too young to cut along the dotted lines, pre-cut the pieces for them and let them handle the gluing part. That way they still feel proud of “making” Grumpster themselves!

Dance your puppet along to the Dance Like a Reindeer song!

Variation: Add a mini paper “mailbox” for Squeeler’s crash scene!
